Are you wondering what an Arduino Due is? It’s basically a microcontroller board based on the Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 CPU. A very interesting fact about it is that it’s the first Arduino board based on a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller. It has a 54 digital input/output pins, 12 of them can be used as PWM outputs, 12 analog inputs, 4 UARTs which are hardware serial ports, an 84 MHz clock, an USB OTG capable connection, 2 DAC (digital to analog), 2 TWI, a power jack, an SPI header, JTAG header, a reset button and last but not least an erase button!
The board basically contains everything needed to support the microcontroller, all you have to do is to connect it to a computer with a micro-USB cable or power it with AC- to DC adapter or battery and GET STARTED! The compatibility of it is so cool since it works with all Arduino shields that work at 3.3V as well as being compliant with the 1.0 Arduino pinout. Exciting!
